The Issues

Infrastructure

Trains, traffic, and trash. These are persistent challenges for our community.

As mayor, I will continue to focus on these issues by collaborating with local, state, and federal leaders to implement effective solutions. My priorities include improving communication with Norfolk Southern Railway to reduce train delays, developing additional connector roads to ease traffic congestion, and strengthening partnerships with waste management providers to ensure efficient and reliable trash pickup.

During my time on the City Council, I played a key role in developing Commerce Lane to improve traffic flow, partnering with the City of Birmingham for an $8 million planning grant that bridges Mary Taylor Road while adding up to four miles of rail siding, and leading Trussville’s membership in the Cahaba Solid Waste Authority to allow us to negotiate better waste management contracts.  Over the next two years, we will have improved all major city arteries by widening and paving Highway 11, expanding I-59, enhancing North Chalkville Road, repaving South Chalkville Road, and developing Loop Road from Edgars to Glenn Avenue to divert thousands of cars from Highway 11.

Safety

I am committed to protecting the safety and security of Trussville families. During my time on the City Council, I developed strong relationships with our federal representatives, which resulted in a $150,000 appropriation for new police vehicles. As Mayor, I will continue to support our first responders by providing the resources, training, and equipment they need to protect our community.

By strengthening these strategic partnerships and ensuring that we use every local, state, and federal resource, I will keep Trussville a secure and thriving place to call home.

Education

Education is the foundation of a strong community. As Council Liaison to the Trussville School System, I have worked directly with school leaders and community stakeholders to address the challenges of our growing population. As mayor, I will continue to prioritize key projects, including building a new elementary school and upgrading the middle school, to ensure that our students have access to the resources they need to thrive and succeed.

When I first ran for City Council, I pledged to establish a Family Resource Center – a hub dedicated to connecting families with essential social services. Through Huskies Together, a non-profit I co-founded that promotes and provides resources to mental health, drug and alcohol addiction, bullying, and other social issues facing our students, we have been able to make this concept a reality. The Family Resource Center will provide critical support and has laid a strong foundation for future growth.

I am proud of the progress we have made and remain committed to seeing this vision fully realized as our next Mayor.

Economic Development

We must continue to recruit new businesses that create quality jobs while supporting our existing business community. Utilizing the tremendous potential of Deerfoot Parkway, Trussville Industrial Park, and similar areas will be critical to our city’s growth. As a council member, I helped lay a foundation for sustained and responsible economic development. We created the Trussville Industrial Development Authority, enhanced the industrial park to promote future site development, and leveraged our relationships with the Economic Development Association of Alabama.

By strategically planned economic growth, we can boost our local economy while preserving the charm and character that makes Trussville a great place to live and work.

Communication

Promoting transparency and maintaining open lines of communication are necessary for building trust and engagement within our community.  Transparency will be the cornerstone of my service as Mayor of Trussville. As a council member, I worked to improve our city website, live stream our council meetings, and develop an app to keep citizens informed.

As Mayor, I will continue to promote better transparency and communication. I will introduce regular newsletters, expand our social media outreach and city website, and leverage new technologies, like Text My Gov, to keep our residents informed and engaged.
